NIACC's Overgaard ties for 2nd at Waldorf Fall Invite
ALBERT LEA, Minn. - NIACC freshman Audrey Overgaard tied for second in the individual medalist competition Sunday at the Waldorf University Fall Invitational.
Overgaard, who prepped at Garner-Hayfield/Ventura, recorded a career-best round of 79 to tie for second with DMACC's Megan Wilde and Luther College's Annemarie Schloo. DMACC's Hannah Kenkel was the individual medalist with a round of 78 at the Wedgewood Cove Golf Club.
"It was great to see Audrey Overgaard break out and take second place individually," NIACC assistant coach JJ Wickman said. "(Sunday's) stellar round proved what she's capable of and will be important for her confidence moving forward."
Overgaard's previously best collegiate round was an 82 at the Mount Mercy University Mustang Fall Invitational on Sept. 7. The 79 by Overgaard was the 23rd round in the 70s by a NIACC women's golfer in the Chris Frenz era, which began in 2006.
NIACC placed fourth in the team standings with a team score of 354. DMACC was the team champion with a score of 321 and Wartburg College was second with a score of 329.
