Trojans top Blackhawk Tech, 95-68
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team opened its season with a 95-68 victory Friday night over Blackhawk Technical College at the Konigsmark Klassic in the NIACC gym.
Sophomore Lance Helming recorded a double/double with 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Trojans. It was Helming's first career double/double.
The 95 points by NIACC was the most by the Trojans in a season opener sincey they topped Hibbing CC 119-74 in the 2019-20 season opener.
NIACC's Jacob Martin scored 20 points with seven assists and six rebounds. The Trojans' Kam'ron Solomon scored 19 points with four rebounds and two steals.
NIACC's Bryson Robinson was also in double figures with 10 points and five rebounds.
NIACC led 43-37 at the half and outscored Blackhawk Tech 52-31 in the second half to claim the 27-point victory,
Blackhawk Tech had three players score 10 points each. Noah Cosme, Kwame Hawkins and Jeremiah Copper all scored 10 points for the Talons.
NiACC returns to action Saturday against Black Hawk College at the Konigsmark Klassic. Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 5 p.m.
