NIACC moves to 3-0 with win over Spoon River CC
BOONE - The NIACC men's basketball team improved to 3-0 with a narrow 66-64 victory over Spoon River CC on Friday on the opening day of the DMACC Classic.
NIACC, which won two games at the Konigsmark Klassic last weekend, received 15 points from freshman Kam'ron Solomon. Also for the Trojans, freshman TJ Cusciotta scored 14 points with six rebounds and three assists and sophomore Cameron Reigard scored 10 points.
NIACC sophomore Joseph Fitch scored eight points and grabbed eight rebounds. The Trojans' Jacob Martin scored eight points with seven rebounds, three assists and one steal.
NIACC led 44-31 at the half. Spoon River CC outsocred the Trojans 33-22 in the second half and had a chance to tie the game on its final possession.
NIACC, which is 3-0 for the first time since the 2019-20 season, returns to action Saturday against Moraine Valley CC at the DMACC Classic. Game time on the DMACC campus is slated for 1 p.m.
In the 2019-20 season, the Trojans started 11-0.
Note: NIACC's win Friday over Spoon River CC was the second time the two schools have met in men's basketball ... The Troans topped Spoon River CC 95-60 in the 2008-09 season.
