Trojans top Hawks, 98-81
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team topped Northeast CC 98-81 Saturday afternoon in an ICCAC contest in the NIACC gym.
The win by the Trojans was the 50th in the head coaching career of fourth-year NIACC coach Jeremy Winters, who now has a career record of 50-60.
NIACC (12-7 overall, 5-5 in the ICCAC) was led by sophomore guard Jacob Martin, who scored 24 points with five assists. Kam'ron Solomon was next in line for the Trojans with 20 points, including five 3-point goals.
NIACC's TJ Cusciotta and Lance Helming both scored 13 points. Helming connected on three 3-point goals and Cusciotta was 7 of 10 from the free-throw line.
NIACC's Bryson Robinson scored eight points and grabbed nine rebounds.
NIACC led 44-30 at the half and outscored the Hawks 54-41 in the second 20 minutes.
Northeast CC (8-8, 4-6) was led by Johanes Piscikas and Scottie Johnson with 22 points apiece. Piscikas drained five 3-point goals.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday in an ICCAC contest at Ellsworth. Game time in Iowa Falls is slated for 7:30 p.m.
