Trojans edge Black Hawk College, 83-78
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team improved to 2-0 with a 83-78 win over Black Hawk College Saturday night at the Konigsmark Classic in the NIACC gym.
NIACC, which topped Blackhawk Technical College 95-68 on Friday, led 39-38 at the half and outscored Black Hawk College 44-40 in the second 20 minutes to claim the five-point victory.
Sophomore guard Jacob Martin led the Trojans with a game-high 26 points. Martin also contributed nine rebounds, six assists, one steal and one blocked shot.
The Trojans also received 14 points each from Lance Helming and TJ Cusciotta. Helming, who had a double/double Friday with 12 points and 12 rebounds, also had nine rebounds on Saturday.
NIACC's RJ Mitchell scored nine points with seven rebounds. three assists and three steals. The Trojans' Joseph Fitch scored seven points with nine rebounds.
NIACC returns to action Nov. 7-8 at the DMACC Classic in Boone. The Trojans play Spoon River College on Nov. 7 and Moraine Valley CC on Nov. 8.
