No. 3 NIACC women open ICCAC play
CRESTON - The No. 3 NIACC women's basketball team opens ICCAC play Wednesday at Southwestern.
Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m.
NIACC (9-0 overall) picked up a pair of wins at the NIACC Thanksgiving Challenge last weekend. The Lady Trojans topped the Grand View Junior Varsity (96-91) and Cental CC-Columbus (80-60).
Freshman Sierra Lynch averages 16.1 points per game (2nd in the ICCAC) to lead the NIACC women in scoring.
Southwestern enters Wednesday's league opener with a record of 4-6. The Spartans dropped a 97-67 decision to No. 2 Johnson County CC on Nov. 26.
Simone Jordan averages 14.3 points per game to lead Southwestern.
In other ICCAC games Wednesday, Iowa Central plays at Iowa Lakes, Ellsworth plays at DMACC and Kirkwood plays at Southeastern.
Notes: The NIACC women have won 16 straight games against Southwestern ... The last win by the Spartans over the Lady Trojans was a 67-57 victory in the 2011-12 season.
