NIACC's Hale earns ICCAC POW award
MASON CITY - NIACC sophomore point guard Kelcie Hale has been selected as the ICCAC women's basketball player of the week for the week of March 2-8.
Hale, who was the MVP of the regional tournament, was instrumental in leading the Lady Trojans to their second consecutive NJCAA Region XI title. She scored 24 points, including six 3-point goals, in the regional title game against Kirkwood on Sunday.
Hale averaged 15 points and 3.6 assists in tournament wins over Little Priest Tribal College, Iowa Lakes and Kirkwood.
NIACC (32-1 overall) returns to action Tuesday in the opening round of the NJCAA Divsion II national tournament in Port Huron, Mich. The top-seeded Lady Trojans face United Tribes Technical College in their tournament opener at 5 p.m.
