NIACC women fall to Bryant & Stratton, 65-59
PEORIA, Ill. - The No. 2 NIACC women's basketball team dropped a 65-59 decision to No. 13 Bryant & Stratton (Wis.) Saturday night in the opening round of the Cougar Holiday Tournament on the Illinois Central campus.
The game was tied 38-38 at the half and NIACC outscored Bryant & Stratton 16-8 in the third quarter to take a 54-46 lead.
Bryant & Stratton, however, outscored the Lady Trojans 19-5 in the final 10 minutes to advance to Sunday's 4 p.m. semifinal against either Illinois Central or Sauk Valley.
NIACC (12-1 overall) faces Sauk Valley CC at noon on Sunday in the consolation semifinals.
NIACC was led by freshman post player Sierra Morrow, who scored 20 points with nine blocked shots and eight rebounds. Shinaana Secody scored 11 points for the Lady Trojans.
NIACC freshman Sierra Lynch scored seven points with seven rebounds and three assists. Abby Leach scored seven points with three rebounds.
Bryant & Stratton was led by Marleah Drake with 18 points. La'Janique Perry-Ellis was next in line with 11 points.
