NIACC women pick up pair of 3rd-place finishes
WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The NIACC women's track and field team picked up a pair of third-place finishes Saturday at the NJCAA Region XI championships on the Central Missouri State University campus.
NIACC's Sarah Bertry placed third in the mile run in a time of 5 minutes, 20.76 seconds, which is the third fastest indoor mile time in school history. The 5:20.76 also qualified Bertry for the NJCAA Division I national championships.
NIACC's Cinnamon Evans placed third in the weight throw with a career-best toss of 13.58 meters (44-6 3/4). Evans' previous career best was a throw of 39-8 on Feb. 13.
Also in the weight throw, NIACC's Brenna Paulson placed fifth with a toss of 11.73 meters (38-6).
NIACC, which placed fifth with 18 points, placed fourth in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 4:43.00.
In the shot put, Paulson was ninth with a throw of 8.95 meters (29-4 1/2) and Evans was 10th with a throw of 8.41 meters (27-7 1/4).
In the 600, NIACC's Maisie Hoskins was ninth in a time of 1:55.31.
In the 200, NIACC's Odelaine Daugherty was 13th in a time of 29.94 and Stanita Zulu was 16th (31.62).
In the 60 hurdles, Lynn Hoeft ran 10.77 and did not make the finals.
In the 60, Zulu ran 8.75 and Daugherty ran 9.00 and neither made the finals.
The NJCAA Division I national meet is set for March 4-6 at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan.
