Kaputin places 19th in Olympic long jump prelims
TOKYO – Former NIACC track and field standout Rellie Kaputin placed 19th at the Tokyo Summer Olympics Sunday in the qualifying rounds of the women's long jump.
Kaputin, who was competing for her home country of Papua New Guinea, recorded a best jump of 6.40 meters.
It took a jump of 6.86 meters to reach Tuesday's women's long jump finals.
Kaputin, who is 28 years old, qualified for the Olympics with a jump of 6.42 meters. She is Papua New Guinea's national record holder in the long jump with a leap of 6.5 meters.
