NIACC's Bertry places third in 1,500 at Mustang Open
CEDAR RAPIDS - NIACC freshman Sarah Bertry placed third in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 5 minutes, 2.01 seconds Saturday at the Mount Mercy Mustang Open.
Also in the 1,500, NIACC's Whitney Martin was eighth (5:22.48) and Lauren Kern was 12th (5:42.62).
Bertry's time of 5:02.01 is a personal best and ranks third on school's all-time list. Martin's time ranks fifth on school's all-time 1,500 list.
Martin also placed 10th in the 800 (2:32.05).
NIACC's Brenna Paulson earned three top-10 finishes in the hammer (8th), javelin (9th) and discus (10th).
Paulson recorded tosses of 38.66 meters in the hammer, 25.68 meters in the javelin and 33.73 meters in the discus.
NIACC's Cinnamon Evans was 10th in the hammer (38.04), which ranks fifth on the school's all-time hammer list.
Mount Mercy's Ally Trager, a former NIACC athlete, won the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:08.58.
