NIACC's Bertry qualifies for 1,500 finals
LEVELLAND, Texas - NIACC freshman Sarah Bertry qualified for the 1,500 finals Wednesday at the NJCAA Division I national track and field championships.
Bertry covered the 1,500 meters in a time of 4 minutes, 59.29 seconds, which is the 11th fastest qualifying time. New Mexico JC's Flomena Asekol has the fastest qualifying time of 4:51.24.
Bertry's time ranks third on the school's all-time 1,500 list. Bertry's previous personal best was 5:02.01 at the Mount Mercy Mustang Open on April 17.
Bertry is third NIACC female to break 5 minutes in the 1,500. Hannah Palmeter owns the school record in a time of 4:37.32 and Emma Davison ran 4:58.58 in 2019.
