NIACC wins 3 events at Waldorf Spring Classic
FOREST CITY - NIACC freshman Sarah Bertry won the 1,500-meter run Thursday at the Waldorf University Spring Opener.
Bertry won the event in a time of 5 minutes, 3.19 seconds. Clarke's Shelby Kline was second in a time of 5:14.41.
Bertry's time of 5:03.19 is the third fastest 1,500 time in school history. Hannah Palmeter holds the school record of 4:37.32 in 2015 and Emma Davison ran 4:58.58 in 2019.
NIACC's Whitney Martin was fourth in the 1,500 in 5:30.84 and former Lady Trojan Cecelia Hemsworth, who now runs for Waldorf, was seventh in 6:06.33.
In the hammer, NIACC's Brenna Paulson won with a toss of 39.96 meters (131 feet, 1 inch) and teammate Cinnamon Evans was second with a toss of 38.63 meters (126-9).
The toss of 39.96 by Paulson ranks second on the school's all-time list. The school record in the hammer is 47.23 meters by Emily Burchett in 2013.
In the javelin, NIACC's Halsie Keltner won with a throw of 28.44 meters (93-4) and Paulson was third with a toss of 23.15 meters (75-11).
In the discus, Paulson was second with a toss of 35.00 meters (114-10).
