NIACC women place 4th at Simpson Invite
INDIANOLA - The NIACC women's golf team placed fourth at the Simpson College Invitational with a round of 388 Wednesday at the Indianola Country Club.
Iowa Lakes was the women's team champion with a 353. Waldorf University was second with a 362.
Thea Lunning shot a 45-41 - 86 to lead the NIACC women to tie for fifth in the individual medalist competition.
"The Indianola Country Club is a tough track," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "The conditions kind of took their toll on us (Wednesday), but we'll learn from this and get better.
"Thea was hot and cold (Wednesday). She made a nice birdie and some great pars but also had a couple of holes that she let get away."
Also for the Lady Trojans, Hailey Panos shot 51-46 - 97, Abby Murray shot 51-48 - 99 and Ashley Voves shot 52-50 - 102.
"Hailey Panos ended strong to give her a good vibe going into Friday's event," Frenz said.
NIACC returns to action Friday at the Hawkeye CC Invitational.
