NIACC set to compete at indoor nationals
PITTSBURG, Kan. - The NIACC men's and women's track and field teams are set to compete at the 2021 NJCAA Division I national indoor championships March 5-6.
The No. 18 NIACC men will compete in nine events and the No. 21 NIACC women will compete in four events at the Robert W. Plaster Complex.
For the NIACC men, freshman Melvin Kipkemboi will compete in the 3,000 and 5,000-meter runs.
Also for the Trojans, Kameron Glasper will compete in the weight throw, Marcel Smith in the high jump, Titus Jackson in the 400, Tinashe Chigudu in the 60 and 200 and Pudens Kipkosgei in the 1,000.
The Trojans will also compete in the distance medley relay. Running for the Trojans will be Jackson, Vicente Correia, Janvier Irakoze and Kipkosgei.
The Trojans have the fifth-fastest qualifying time in the DMR with a time of 10:25.94.
Kipkosgei has the ninth fastest qualifying time in the 1,000 with a time of 2:34.15.
Kipkemboi is ranked 10th in the 3,000 (8:46.69) and the 5,000 (15:16.11).
For the NIACC women, freshman Sarah Bertry will run the 1,000 and the mile.
Bertry is ranked seventh in the 1,000 (3:10.63) and seventh in the mile (5:17.62).
NIACC's Cinnamon Evans and Brenna Paulson will both compete in the weight throw and Lynn Hoeft will compete in the 60-meter hurdles.
