NIACC men win 5 events at Waldorf Spring Opener
FOREST CITY - The NIACC men's track and field team won five events at the Waldorf University Spring Opener on Thursday.
NIACC picked up wins from Tinashe Chigudu (200), Titus Jackson (400), Janvier Irakoze (800), Melvin Kipkemboi (1,500) and Kameron Glasper (discus).
Chigudu won the 200 in a personal best time of 22.11. Jackson placed second in the 200 (22.79).
The 22.11 time by Chigudu ranks fourth on the school's all-time best list.
In the 400, Jackson clocked a 51.30 to earn his first-place finish. The 51.30 is tied for ninth on the school's all-time best list.
The Trojans' Walker Sobolik was second in a time of 52.27.
In the 800, Irakoze won in a time of 2:03.65. NIACC's Richard Marcoux was second in 2:03.95.
In the 1,500, Kipkemboi won in a time of 4:10.56. Also for the Trojans in the 1,500, Vicente Correia was third (4:14.15), Pudens Kipkosgei was fourth (4:26.55) and Stephen Ringo was fifth (4:36.00).
Kipkemboi's time of 4:10.56 ranks eighth on the school's all-time best list.
In the discus, Glasper won with a toss of 43.82 meters (143 feet, 9 inches), which ranks second on the school's all-time best list.
In the javelin, NIACC's Randry Mugisha was second with a toss of 34.67 meters (113-9).
