NIACC's Kipkemboi places 4th in 5K
STORM LAKE - NIACC sophomore Melvin Kipkemboi placed fourth in the 5,000-meter run Friday in a season-best time of 15 minutes, 13.81 seconds at the NJCAA Region XI indoor track and field championships.
Kipkemboi's previous season best time in the 2022 indoor season was 15:15.70 at the Minnesota State Ted Nelson Classic.
Also Friday for the Trojans, Kameron Glasper was seventh in the shot put with a toss of 12.97 meters (42 feet, 6 3/4 inches). Teammate Randry Mugisha was eighth with a toss of 12.19 meters (40-0).
In the triple jump, NIACC's Matt Seberson was ninth with a personal-best leap of 12.65 meters (41-6), which ranks third on NIACC's all-time indoor best list.
NIACC placed fifth in the distance medley relay in a time of 11:09.32 running John Hunt, Braden Powers, Christian Rodriguez and Richard Marcoux.
In the 60-meter prelims, NIACC's Tinashe Chigudu qualified for Saturday's finals with the fastest qualifying time of 6.74.
In the 60-meter hurdles prelims, NIACC's Daqwan Sanders qualified for Saturday's finals in a time of 8.74, which was the seventh fastest qualifying time.
