NIACC men qualify in 7 events for national track meet
HUTCHINSON, Kan. - The NIACC men's track and field team will participate in seven events at the NJCAA Division I championships starting Thursday at Gowans Stadium.
NIACC's Tinashe Chigudu and Melvin Kipkemboi both qualified in two individual events. Chigudu qualified in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes and Kipkemboi will run the 3,000-meter steeplechase and the 5,000-meter run.
Chigudu ran 10.37 this season in the 100, which is the 23rd fastest qualifying time. He ran 20.86 in the 200, which ranks 15th.
Kipkemboi ran 9:29.98 in the steeplechase, which ranks 13th. He ran 14:30.52, which ranks 12th.
NIACC's Randry Mugisha qualified in the javelin and Kameron Glasper qualified in the discus. Mugisha's best toss in the javelin this season is 153 feet, 1 inch and Glasper's best toss in the discus is 143-7.
The Trojans will also run in the 4x100-meter relay with Bernard Bell, Michael Moore-Fondren, Titus Jackson and Chigudu. The Trojans' best time in the 4x100 this season is 42.09.

Friday, May 20
2:50 p.m. - 100 prelims (Tinashe Chigudu).
4:05 p.m. - 200 prelims (Chigudu).
4:50 p.m. - 3,000-meter steeplechase (Melvin Kipkemboi).
Saturday, May 21
10 a.m. - Javelin (Randry Mugisha).
1 p.m. - Discus (Kameron Glasper).
3:50 p.m. - 5,000-meter run (Kipkemboi)
Note: The 100-meter dash final is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday. The 200-meter dash final is at 3:15 p.m. Saturday.
