NIACC's Chigudu, Kipkemboi earn wins at Wartburg Select
WAVERLY - The NIACC men's track and field team picked up a pair of first-place finishes at the Wartburg College Outdoor Select meet on Friday.
NIACC's Tinashe Chigudu won the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.70 seconds and Melvin Kipkemboi won the 5,000-meter run in a personal-best time of 14 minutes, 49.26 seconds.
Kipkemboi's time of 14:49.26 ranks second on the school's all-time outdoor 5K list. Jordan Anderson owns the school record in the 5,000 in a time of 14:36.89 at the Penn Relays in 2008.
In the 100-meter dash, NIACC's Sanchez Redden was fourth in 11.05, which ranks sixth on the school's all-time outdoor 100 list. The Trojans' Titus Jackson was fifth in 11.23.
Chigudu owns the school record in the 100 (10.59 in 2021) and Jackson ranks seventh on the school's all-time outdoor 100 list with a 11.07 in 2021.
Also Friday, NIACC's Daqwan Sanders placed second in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 16.23. The Trojans' Walker Sobolik was sixth in 16.81.
In the 200, Sanchez was second in 22.61 and Fabian Brown was third in 23.00.
In the high jump, NIACC's Michael Moore-Fondren was fifth with a leap of 6 feet, 2 3/4 inches, which is tied for fifth on the school's all-time outdoor high jump list.
NIACC's Kameron Glasper was sixth in the discus with a toss of 139 feet, 2 inches and was eighth in the shot put (42-8 3/4).
In the javelin, NIACC's Randry Mugisha was sixth with a toss of 136-1.
NIACC placed fourth with 71 team points. Loras College was the team champion with 187 points and host Wartburg was second with 151 points.
