NIACC men place 2nd at Dick Young Invite
GRINNELL - The NIACC men's track and field team won three events and placed second at Grinnell's Dick Young Invitational on Saturday with 124.5 points.
Host Grinnell was the team champion with 151 points and Waldorf University was third with 104 points.
Claiming first-place finishes for the Trojans were Tinashe Chigudu in the 100-meter dash in a school-record time of 10.37 seconds. NIACC's Titus Jackson won the 400 in a time of 50.35 and Melvin Kipkemboi won the 1,500 in a personal-best time of 4:06.88.
Chigudu broke his own school record time of 10.59, which was set at the 2021 NJCAA Division I outdoor national meet on May 12, 2021.
Kipkemboi's time of 4:06.88 in the 1,500 ranks sixth on the school's all-time list.
Also Saturday for the Trojans, Michael Moore-Fondren placed second in the 100 in 10.81, which now ranks second on the school's all-time 100 list. Moore-Fondren was also third in the high jump (5-10 3/4).
NIACC's Daqwan Sanders was second in the high jump with a personal-best jump of 6 feet, 2 3/4 inches, which is tied for fifth on the school's outdoor high jump list. Sanders was also fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles in a personal-best time of 15,89, which ranks third on the school's all-time list.
NIACC's Randry Mugisha was second in the javelin with a personal-best toss of 153 feet, 1 inch, which ranks third on the school's all-time javelin list. Mugisha was also ninth in the hammer thorw (117-5).
In the 200, NIACC's Bernard Bell was third in a personal-best time of 22.07, which ranks sixth on the school's all-time list. Braden Powers was sixth in 22.51 and Fabian Brown was seventh (22.54).
NIACC's Matt Seberson was fourth in the triple jump (40-5 1/2) and fifth in the long jump (20-2 1/4). Also in the long jump, Brown was eighth (18-5) and Walker Sobolik was 10th (18-1 1/2).
NIACC's Kameron Glasper was fourth in the discus (134-3), fourth in the hammer (129-1) and eighth in the shot put (38-5 1/2).
NIACC's Christian Rodriguez was ninth in the 800 (2:05.87).
