Trojans place 4th at Iowa Central Fall Kickoff
FORT DODGE - The NIACC men's golf team placed fourth Monday at the Iowa Central Fall Kickoff at the Fort Dodge Country Club with a team score of 304.
Southeast CC (Neb.) and Iowa Central tied for first with rounds of 297. Northeast CC (Neb.) was third with a 298.
Freshman Heath Voigt led the Trojans with a 72, which tied for second in the individual medalist competition.
"Heath Voigt was outstanding (Monday)," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "For a freshman to come in and post a solid second-place finish at a tournament that featured some of the top teams in our league is outstanding.
"I love the way he attacks the course."
NIACC sophomore Garrett Ham shot shot 75. Hudson Kroymann shot 76, Austin Stene shot 81 and Kyler Glenn shot 85.
The NIACC B team tied for seventh with a round of 313 and the NIACC C team was 10th with a 328.
Freshman Cade Dillavou led the Trojan C team with a round of 75.
"Garrett Ham also had a solid showing (Monday)," Frenz said. "He was disappointed with his finish, but that will just fuel his desire even more for our home tournament (Tuesday).
"Cade Dillavou was great (Monday), too. He's had a couple of rough qualifying rounds early, but he's been coming on strong lately, too, which is great to see."
Sophomore Ashtin Willms and sophomore Ian Roske paced the NIACC B team with a pair of 76s. Sophomore Drew DeGabriele shot 78, sophomore Brody Frayne shot 83 and freshman Eli Anderson shot 84.
Also for the NIACC C team, freshman Isaac Houdek shot 78, freshman Nolan Reser shot 84, sophomore Gavin Anderson shot 91 and freshman Noah Honn shot 91.
"We have so many guys close that it's just a matter of finding the right combination to get the lowest team score," Frenz said. "It's a great problem to have in the fall season."
