Ham leads Trojans on day 1 at Graceland Invite
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Sophomore Garrett Ham led the NIACC men's golf team Friday with a 77 during day one of the Graceland University Spring Invitational at the Mozingo Lake Golf Course.
NIACC shot a first day total of 332 and sit in a tie for fifth place with Iowa Central.
"It was a bit of a rough start for the guys (Friday)," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said, "but its to play in the conditions (Friday) and the course was set up very difficult.
"Plus, when we've only had a chance to get outside just in the last few days, we can't beat ourselves up too much."
Ham, who prepped at Lake Mills, sits in fourth place in the individual medalist competition.
"He's looking to make a move up the leaderboard (Saturday)," Frenz said.
Also for the Trojans on Friday, Hudson Kroymann and Heath Voigt both shot 83 and Kyler Glenn and Austin Stene both shot 89.
Playing as individuals for the Trojans, Ashtin Willms shot 85 and Drew DeGabriele shot 87.
Southwestern CC is the first-day leader with a round of 310 and Southwestern (Kan.) is in second place with a 319.
The final round of the Graceland Spring Invitational is set for Saturday.
"Conditions don't look to be improving a great deal," Frenz said, "but we'll adjust and give it our best (Saturday)."
