Trojans place 2nd at Waldorf Fall Challenge
LAKE MILLS - The NIACC men's golf B team placed second at the Waldorf University Fall Challenge on Monday at Rice Lake Golf Course.
The Trojans earned their second-place team finish with a team score of 309. Host Waldorf University was the team champion with a 309.
NIACC was led by freshman Austin Stene with a round of 75, which tied for fourth in the individual medalist competition.
"I'm proud of how Austin Stene represented NIACC on his home turf In Lake Mills," NIACC assistant coach JJ Wickman said. "He was battling self-doubt but gutted it out for the low Trojan round."
Also for the NIACC B team, sophomore Ian Roske shot 76, sophomore Drew DeGabriele shot 77, freshman Nolan Reser shot 81 and freshman Cade Dillavou shot 82.
"Ian Roske followed (Monday's) strong performance up with another sound round in the 70s," Wickman said. "His game is trending in the right direction.
The NIACC C team placed fourth with a team score of 317. Freshman Noah Honn led the Trojan C team with a 77.
"The hometown boys, Drew DeGabriele and Noah Honn both struck it well once again, both shooting 77," Wickman said.
Also for the Trojan C team, sophomore Gavin Anderson, freshman Isaac Houdek and sophomore Kyler Glenn all shot 80 and sophomore Brody Frayne shot 83.
Team standings - Waldorf University 298, NIACC B 309, Central College B 312, NIACC C 317, Buena Vista 320, Waldorf University B 325.
