NIACC's Ham places fifth at Graceland Invite
MARYVILLE, Mo. - NIACC sophomore Garrett Ham placed fifth in the individual medalist competition Saturday at the Graceland University Spring Invitational at the Mozingo Lake Golf Course.
Ham, who prepped at Lake Mills, shot rounds of 77-76 - 153 to earn his fifth-place finish. Southwestern's Freddie Muggeridge and Southwestern's (Kan,) Jordana Clancy shared individual medalist honors.
Muggeridge shot rounds of 72-78 - 150 and Clancy shot 75-75 - 150.
"We had a couple of real nice performances (Saturday) from Garrett Ham and Heath Voigt," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "Garrett had a solid fifth-place finish. He's disappointed he couldn't pull out the win, but he got it down to strokes about midway through the round (Saturday).
"It's a good way to start the season in these conditions. Heath was really good (Saturday). After he got adjusted to the course conditions, he had one of the best rounds of the tournament with a 73 (Saturday)."
Voigt tied for seventh with rounds of 83-73 - 156.
Also for the Trojans, Austin Stene shot 89-81 - 170, Hudson Kroymann shot 83-89 - 172 and Kyler Glenn shot 89-86 - 175.
NIACC placed sixth in the team standings with rounds of 332-316 - 648. Southwestern CC was the team champion with rounds of 310-307 - 617.
Playing as individuals for the Trojans, Ashtin Willms shot 85-81 - 166 and Drew DeGabriele shot 87-85 - 172.
NIACC returns to action on April 3-4 at the Upper Iowa Invitational at the Sunnyside Country Club in Waterloo.
