Trojans place 9th at Kirkwood Eagle Fall Classic
AMANA - The NIACC men's golf team placed ninth at the Kirkwood Eagle Fall Classic Tuesday at the Amana Colonies Golf Club.
NIACC shot rounds of 324-315 - 639 for its ninth-place finish. Host Kirkwood was the team champion with rounds of 293-292 - 585 and Northwestern (Iowa) was second at 300-289 - 589.
"We played better (Tuesday) but not up to our standards," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "We've had a very solid fall season and I'm excited to see where this leads us in the spring.
"I had solid play from my sophomores and now just need more consistency and I loved how the freshmen came in and competed at a high level. We're looking forward to a good off-season."
Sophomore Garrett Ham and freshman Heath Voigt led the Trojans in their final tournament of the fall. Ham shot rounds of 83-76 - 159 and Voigt shot 81-78 - 159.
Also for the Trojans, freshman Eli Anderson shot 79-81 - 160, sophomore Ashtin Willms shot 82-80 - 162 and freshman Hudson Kroymann shot 82-92 - 174.
