NIACC's Ham ties for 5th at Glen Oaks Collegiate
WEST DES MOINES - NIACC sophomore tied for fifth in the individual medalist competition Monday at the Glen Oaks Collegiate with a round of 76.
Luther College's Owen King and Max Brock shared individual medalist honors with rounds of 74 at the Glen Oaks Country Club.
"Garrett Ham put together another high quality round," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said.
NIACC placed fifth in the team standings with a team score of 318. Luther College was the team champion with a team score of 305 and Nebraska Wesleyan was second with a round of 308.
NIACC sophomore Ashtin Willms tied for eighth with a round of 77. Freshman Austin Stene shot 80, freshman Heath Voigt shot 85 and freshman Hudson Kroymann shot 85.
"Ashtin Willms was very solid all day long," Frenz said. "The wheels came off a little on the final holes, but overall he had to be pleased with his day.
"Austin Stene, I thought, also cobbled together a nice round."
Playing as individuals for the Trojans, Nolan Reser shot 84 and Drew DeGabriele shot 92.
"The course played tough, but we didn't back down," Frenz said. "We'll continue to strive toward a victory.
"We know we've got what it takes. We just all need to get it going on the same day. We just need to keep trending in the right direction as we head toward regionals."
NIACC returns to action Friday and Saturday at the Iowa Central Invitational at the Fort Dodge Country Club.
