NIACC's Lieurance, Bullingham earn ICCAC player of week awards
MASON CITY – The NIACC baseball team swept the ICCAC player of the week awards.
Freshman Derek Lieurance was selected as the ICCAC pitcher of the week and sophomore outfielder Troy Bullingham was the player of the week.
Lieurance, who was also the ICCAC pitcher of the week Feb. 15-21, struck out 13 in the Trojans' 9-1 second-round win over Ellsworth at the NJCAA Region XI tournament in Waterloo. He allowed one earned run and scattered six hits in eight innings of work.
Lieurance (9-0) became the fourth pitcher in school history to win nine games in a season. Lieurance has 80 strikeouts this season with a 3.02 earned run average.
Bullingham, who was also the ICCAC player of the week April 11-17, hit two home runs and drove in six runs in NIACC's 20-6 win over Southeastern at the regional tournament and had a home run and a double with three RBIs in the 16-3 championship game win over Southeastern.
Bullingham is second in NIACC's record books for career hits (155), RBIs (132) and doubles (35). His batting average for the season is .408 and he is sixth in the nation with 74 RBIs.
