Trojans ranked 17th in initial softball poll
MASON CITY - The NIACC softball team is ranked No. 17 in the NJCAA Division II preseason poll presented by Netting Professionals released Tuesday.
NIACC, which was 35-23 overall and 17-11 in the ICCAC in 2025, returns five sophomores from last year's team, including all-region performers Mya Bunkers, Ally Wall and Makayla Wirkus.
The Trojans, who were 24th in last season's preseason poll, were ranked as high as 14th twice last season - the March 17 and March 24 polls.
Murray State College opens the season as the No. 1 team in NJCAA Division II.
DMACC is ranked fifth, Kirkwood is ranked 10th and Iowa Central is ranked 24th.
NIACC opens its season on Feb. 19 with a pair of games at the Choccolocco Jam in Oxford, Ala. The Trojans play Wallace State CC-Henceville and Chattanooga State CC.
