OXFORD, Ala. - The No. 17 (NJCAA Division II) NIACC softball team splits a pair of games Friday at the Choccolocco Jam.
NIACC (1-3) dropped a 8-2 decision to Northeast Mississippi CC and topped No. 19 (NJCAA Division I) Southern Union State CC 5-4.
In the game against Southern Union State CC, the Trojans scored four runs in the seventh inning and won the game with a walk-off sacrifice fly from Kennedi McGarvey.
Anna Fairchild picked up her first collegiate win for the Trojans. Fairchild pitched the top of the seventh innings allowing one run on two hits.
Fairchild relieved starter Maren Sauvageau, who pitched six innings allowing three runs on six hits with one strikeout and no walks.
NIACC's Claire Lodge was 3 for 4 and Mya Bunkers, Katie Riesselman and Ally Wall all collected two hits. Wall also drove in two runs.
The Trojans received a double from Wall and a triple from JoAnna Wallace.
In the game against Northeast Mississippi CC, the Trojans received RBIs from Makayla Wirkus and Aubery Chapman.
NIACC returns to action today with a pair of games against Roane State CC and Copiah-Lincoln CC.
