BOONE - The No. 22 NIACC softball team dropped an ICCAC twinbill to No. 8 DMACC on Monday on the DMACC campus.
DMACC (32-7 overall, 15-1 in the ICCAC) won the first game 10-2 in six innings and the Bears won the second game 4-2.
In the opener, DMACc scored three runs in the first inning, a single run in the third and sixth innings and five runs in the fourth frame. The Bears pounded out 10 hits to score their 10 runs.
NIACC pushed across two runs in the fourth frame. Ally Wall had an RBI single and Mya Bunkers collected an RBI double.
DMACC's Kierra Jungers (12-5) tossed a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts and three walks.
NIACC's Chloe Thurlby (14-8) struck out two and walked four in four innings of work.
In the second game, DMACC scored a single run in the second inning and plated three runs in the third frame.
NIACC scored its two runs in the fifth inning, including a solo home run from freshman Kennedi McGarvey. It was the fourth home run of the season for McGarvey.
DMACC's Jacki Baas (16-2) scattered four hits with seven strikeouts and no walks.
NIACC (25-14, 10-6) returns to action Tuesday in an ICCAC doubleheader at Iowa Lakes in Estherville. The first game is slated to start at 2 p.m.
