NIACC's Thurlby earns ICCAC weekly honor
MASON CITY - NIACC freshman Chloe Thurlby was selected as the ICCAC Division II pitcher of the week for the week of Feb. 23-March 1.
Thurlby, a left-hander from Bondurant, gained four wins with 27 strikeouts.
The last time a NIACC pitcher earned ICCAC pitcher of the week honors was Izzy Sloan for the week of April 1-7, 2024.
In just over 19 innings, Thurlby (4-3) allowed two earned runs, five hits and three walks.
In an 8-0 five-inning win over Southwestern CC, Thurlby tossed a no-hitter with seven strikeouts and one walk.
In a 10-1 five-innng win over Metropolitan CC (Mo.), Thurlby threw a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts.
In 36 2/3 innings pitched, Thurlby has 42 strikeouts and 10 walks with a 2.67 earned run average.
No. 18 NIACC (5-6 overall) returns to action Thursday against Iowa Western at 1 p.m. in the Grand Slam Tournament. The Trojans face Elgin CC at 3 p.m.
