NIACC faces Iowa Lakes in tourney opener
CEDAR RAPIDS - The NIACC softball team faces Iowa Lakes in the NJCAA Region 11-A tournament on Friday.
Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
NIACC (38-21 overall, 23-13 in the ICCAC) enters the regional tournament as the fourth seed and the Lakers (35-21, 18-18) are the fifth seed.
Top-seed Kirkwood (55-5, 35-1) hosts sixth-seed Ellsworth (22-36, 8-28) in the regional tournament opener at 2 p.m.
The 38 wins by the Trojans in the 2026 season ties the school's all-time single-season record for wins. The Trojans were 38-12 in 1992 under hall of fame coach Tom Dunn.
NIACC and Iowa Lakes split their four games this season with each team winning doubleheaders on their home field.
In the games in Esterville on April 7, the Lakers won 8-7 and 4-3. In the games in Mason City on April 12, the Trojans won 7-2 and 12-7.
