MASON CITY - The NIACC softball team split an ICCAC doubleheader on Wednesday on the NIACC campus.
Iowa Central won the first game 2-1 and NIACC salvaged a split with a 6-1 win in the second game.
In the first game, the Trojans received a solo home run from Aubrey Chapman.
NIACC's Chloe Thurlby two runs on six hits with seven strikeouts. Thulby collected her 200th strikeout of the season and now has 205 strikeouts, which is the NIACC single-season record.
In the second game, sophomore Ally Wall gained the win in the circle for the Trojans. Wall allowed one run while scattering seven hits with four strikeouts.
NIACC scored two runs each in the first, third and fifth innings.
Wall and Mya Bunkers both collected two hits, including a triple from each. Wall also drove in two runs.
NIACC returns to Saturday at home in an ICCAC twinbill against Central CC-Columbus. The first game is slated to start at 1 p.m.
