Trojans ranked No. 15 in latest softball poll
MASON CITY - The NIACC softball team is ranked No. 15 in the NJCAA Division II poll presented by Netting Professionals released Monday.
NIACC (1-4 overall) was ranked No. 17 in the preseason poll released Jan. 20.
NIACC opened the season last week with five games in Alabama. The Trojans dropped three games to rated teams - lost 3-2 to No. 17 (NJCAA Division I) Wallace State CC-Hanceville, lost 7-6 to No. 14 (NJCAA Division I) Chattanooga State CC and lost 7-4 to No. 3 (NJCAA Division II) Copiah Lincoln CC.
The Trojans picked up a 5-4 win over Southern Union State CC, which was ranked No. 19 in the NJCAA Division I preseason poll.
Murray State College (20-0) is ranked No. 1 and Jones College (17-2) is ranked No. 2.
DMACC (4-1) is ranked sixth and Kirkwood (8-4) is ranked seventh. Iowa Central (2-0) is ranked No. 22.
NIACC returns to action Friday at the 2026 Midwest College Classic in Shawnee, Kan. The Trojans play Neosho County CC (3-8-1) at 12:30 p.m. and No. 1 (NJCAA Division III) NDSCS (11-0) at 3 p.m.
