NIACC women's basketball team signs six players
MASON CITY – The NIACC women's basketball team signed six players to national letter of intents Monday night in the NIACC gym.
Signing with the Lady Trojans are Mason City's Marci Wolters, Forest City's Sarri Happel, Hampton-Dumont's Jordan Prantner, Northwood-Kensett's Hattie Davidson, St. Ansgar's Kelsie Willert and Algona's Carly Seely.
Wolters, a 5-foot-11 forward, averaged 6.8 points per game with 89 rebounds and 23 3-point goals for the Mohawks, who claimed the Class 4A state title. Wolters was a second-team Central Iowa Conference Northern Division selection.
Happel, a 5-9 guard, averaged 13.0 points per game with 34 3-point goals for the Indians, who were 15-6 in the 2015-16 season. Happel, a first-team Top of Iowa Conference West division selection, shot 80.8 percent from the free-throw line (63 of 78) and had 58 assists.
Prantner, a 5-7 guard, averaged 18.0 points per game for the Bulldogs, who were 19-3. Prantner, a second-team Class 3A Iowa Newspaper all-state selection, connected on 65 3-point goals, shot 84.9 percent from the free throw line (62 of 73) and collected 64 steals.
Davidson, a 5-9 guard, averaged 21.2 points per game for the Vikings, who were 19-5. Davidson, a second-team Class 1A INA all-state selection, made 47 3-point goals and accumulated 82 assists and 95 steals.
Willert, a 5-7 guard, averaged 14.2 points per game for the Saints, who were 12-10. Willert, a first-team Top of Iowa Conference East division selection, made 41 3-point goals, shot 85.2 percent from the free throw line (69 of 81) and had 53 assists and 40 steals.
Seely, a 5-10 forward, averaged 12.7 points per game for the Bulldogs, who were 13-10. Seely, a first-team all-North Central Conference selection, made 37 3-point goals, grabbed 144 rebounds with 48 assists and 39 steals.
