NIACC women ranked fifth in this week's poll
MASON CITY - The NIACC women's basketball team is ranked fifth in the NJCAA Division II poll released Wednesday.
It is the 28th straight poll that the NIACC women have been ranked in the top 10. The Lady Trojans have been ranked in the top five in 19 of those 28 polls.
The last time NIACC was not ranked in the top 10 was the 2013-14 preseason poll (Oct. 28, 2013) when the Lady Trojans were not ranked.
Johnson County CC (12-0) is ranked No. 1. Kirkwood (9-3) is ranked sixth and DMACC (10-2) is ranked 11th.
NIACC (7-4) returns to action Dec. 28 at the Illinois Central holiday tournament. The Lady Trojans play Cincinnati State CC in the opening round of the eight-team tournament that has four teams ranked in the top 10 of the NJCAA Division II poll.
Other ranked teams in the Illinois Central tournament are No. 3 Schoolcraft College (5-0), No. 4 Illinois Central (8-3) and No. 6 Kirkwood.
