No. 13 NIACC women host Iowa Central in regional semifinal
MASON CITY - The No. 13 NIACC women's basketball team hosts Iowa Central in the NJCAA Region XI semifinals on Thursday.
Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. in the NIACC gym.
NIACC (20-10) advanced to the regional final four with a 77-45 victory over Southwestern on Tuesday. Sophomores Savannah Lentz and Trudy Peterson both scored 15 points to lead the Lady Trojans.
Peterson scored her 15 points on five three-point goals. Peterson now has 87 3-point goals this season, which ranks second on NIACC's single-season list.
NIACC, which has won eight straight games, and Iowa Central split its two regular season contests. The Tritons won 76-52 and the Lady Trojans won 85-66.
Up next: The winner of tonight's NJCAA Region XI semifinal contest plays either top-seeded Kirkwood or fourth-seeded DMACC at 1 p.m. Saturday at a site to be determined in the regional title game. If Kirkwood tops DMACC in the other semifinal, the Eagles would host the championship game. If DMACC wins, NIACC or Iowa Central would host the championship game.
