No. 13 NIACC women advance to regional final
MASON CITY - For the third straight season, the NIACC women's basketball team will play in the NJCAA Region XI final.
NIACC (21-10 overall) stopped Iowa Central 67-54 in the regional semifinals Thursday night in the NIACC gym with Anna Eckert leading the way with 17 points and seven rebounds.
Second-seed NIACC, which has won nine straight games, hosts third-seed DMACC at 1 p.m. Saturday in the regional final in the NIACC gym. DMACC upset No. 3 Kirkwood 66-54 in its regional semifinal contest on Thursday.
NIACC fell to Kirkwood in last season's regional final and were crowned regional champions in the 2014 season.
NIACC and DMACC split their two regular season contests. DMACC won the first meeting 83-75 in Boone and NIACC stopped the Bears 64-52 in Mason City.
Also for the Lady Trojans on Thursday, Diamond Miller scored 10 points with eight rebounds. Sammie Sproul scored seven points, grabbed eight rebounds and collected three steals.
Iowa Central (16-8) was led by Jaci Stumpf with 15 points. Anna Yung was next in line for the Tritons with 10 points.
