NIACC's Eckert earns ICCAC player of week honor
MASON CITY – NIACC sophomore Anna Eckert was selected as the ICCAC women's basketball player of the week for the week of Feb. 29-March 5.
Eckert, who was the NJCAA Region XI tournament MVP, recorded a triple double with 23 points, 13 rebounds and 10 blocked shots in NIACC's 83-0 regional title game victory over DMACC last Saturday in the NIACC gym.
Eckert scored 17 points with seven rebounds in the regional semifinal win over Iowa Central. She scored 10 points with four rebounds and three blocks in the first-round regional win over Southwestern.
Eckert is the fifth NIACC player this season to earn ICCAC player of the week honors. Sammie Sproul won the award twice and Trudy Peterson and Diamond Miller each earned the award one time.
