Trojans sweep Tigers, 3-0
MASON CITY - The NIACC volleyball team topped Marshalltown CC 3-0 Tuesday in an ICCAC contest in the NIACC gym.
NIACC won 25-17, 25-10, 27-25.
"We are always happy to get another conference win, but equally excited to see the team apply some of the skills we have been working hard to execute in practices," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "We get to enjoy the outcome (Tuesday), but it's back to work Wednesday as we prepare for another challenging conference match on Thursday."
NIACC (10-10 overall, 2-4 in the ICCAC) was led by freshman Jocelynn Coleman with 14 kills and one block. Sophomore Megan Tobin had eight kills, four digs and three blocks.
Also for the Trojans, sophomore Kenedee Frayne had 16 assists, four digs and two ace serves. Freshman Brielle Volker had six kills, 11 digs and five ace serves, Bailey Dagestad had five blocks and three kills and freshman Kendal VanMinsel had 12 assists, five digs and two ace serves.
NIACC freshman Carissa Timmerman had eight digs, three assists and three ace serves, sophomore Kinsey Anderson had 12 digs and two ace serves, sophomore Emma Miller had three digs, sophomore Hannah Brinkman had three kills and one block and freshman Alva Fraenkel had two digs.
NIACC returns to action Thursday in an ICCAC contest at Ellsworth. Match time in Iowa Falls is slated for 6:30 p.m.
