NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. - The NIACC volleyball team picked up a pair of wins Friday at the Siouxland Invitational.
NIACC (6-1 overall) topped NDSCS 3-2 in its first match of the weekend. The Trojans won 22-25, 25-17, 25-22, 22-25, 15-10.
The Troans swept Minnesota North College-Mesabi Ranger 3-0. The Trojans won 25-16, 25-18, 25-20.
"The team did a good job of working through some new options and executing the offense," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "We were excited to see it come together."
Sophomore Megan Tobin and freshman Jocelynn Coleman led the Trojans with 17 kills each. Tobin also had seven blocks and Coleman had four blocks.
NIACC freshman Kendal VanMinsel had 37 assists, 10 digs and three ace serves. Sophomore Kenedee Frayne had 33 assists and five digs.
Also for the Trojans, Kinsey Anderson had 10 digs and four ace serves, Bailey Dagestad had 14 kills and three blocks and Kayden Muller had 11 digs and six kills.
NIACC's Brielle Volker had 13 kills, 11 digs and four ace serves, Hannah Brinkman had 17 digs, four blocks and three digs and Carissa Timmerman had 13 digs and 12 assists.
NIACC returns to action Saturday with a pair of matches against Labette CC (9 a.m.) and Highland CC (Kan.). (2 p.m.)
"(Saturday) will be another challenging day," Brandt said, "and we are excited to see what we can do against those teams."
