Trojans fall to Hawkeye CC, 3-1
WATERLOO - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Hawkeye CC Wednesday in the ICCAC opener for both teams.
Hawkeye CC won 22-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-18.
"The loss was disappointing," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said, "but we need to learn from things that we didn't control.
"From last weekend to (Wednesday), this was a much different team - played with hesitation and very flat. We get another day to prepare Thursday and then we head to another tournament in Sioux City this weekend."
NIACC (4-1 overall, 0-1 in ICCAC) was led by Megan Tobin and Hannah Brinkman with eight kills apiece. Brinkman had three blocks and Tobin had two blocks.
Also for the Trojans, Bailey Dagestad had five kills and one block, Brielle Volker had four kills, three ace serves and 11 digs and Jocelynn Coleman had four kills and one block.
NIACC's Emma Miller had nine digs, four kills and one block, Kenedee Frayne had 12 assists and four digs, Kendal VanMinsel had 14 assists, three digs and one ace serve and Carissa Timmerman had nine digs.
NIACC returns to action Friday and Saturday at the Siouxland Invitational in North Sioux City, S.D.
On Friday, the Trojans play NDSCS at noon and Minnesota North CC at 5 p.m.
On Saturday, the Trojans take on Labette CC at 9 a.m. and Highland CC (Kan.) at 2 p.m.
