ROCKFORD, Ill. - The NIACC volleyball team split a pair of matches Saturday at the Rock Valley Tournament.
NIACC topped Harper College 3-0 winning by the scores of 25-22, 25-20, 25-14. Host Rock Valley College stopped the Trojans 3-0 by winning 25-21, 25-17, 25-23.
"We had a decent day working on a new lineup, as well as getting some more players some well-deserved experience," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "We need to continue to push through to overcome some of our challenges as a team."
Sophomore Megan Tobin led the Trojans Saturday with 22 kills, six digs and five blocks. Freshman Jocelynn Coleman had 18 kills, three digs and three blocks and sophomore Hannah Brinkman had 14 kills, eight digs, eight blocks and two ace serves.
NIACC's Kenedee Frayne had 31 assists, nine digs and four ace serves, Kendal VanMinsel had 26 assists, 11 digs and three ace serves and Kinsey Anderson had 22 digs and two ace serves.
The Trojans' Bailey Dagestad had four blocks, Kayden Muller had three kills, two digs and two blocks, Emma Miller had six kills, three ace serves, five digs and three blocks, Alva Fraenkel had 10 digs and one ace serve and Carissa Timmerman had 36 digs, six assists and five ace serves.
NIACC (11-12 overall) returns to action Wednesday at home against Iowa Lakes. Match time in the NIACC gym is slated for 7 p.m.
