NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday at the Siouxland Invitational.
Labette CC topped NIACC 3-2. Labette CC won 13-25, 25-20, 18-25, 26-24, 18-16.
Highland CC (Kan.) stopped the Trojans 3-0 winning 25-11, 25-21, 25-21.
"(Saturday) the scoreboard didn't reflect all of the hard work and growth this team has shown," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "We got to experience the strong defense from an opponent that is like ours and how impactful that is to our game plan."
Freshman Jocelynn Coleman led the Trojans Saturday with 25 kills and two blocks. Sophomore Megan Tobin had 22 kills, eight digs and three blocks.
NIACC's Kinsey Anderson had 26 digs and four ace serves. The Trojans' Bailey Dagestad had six kills and seven blocks.
Also for the Trojans, Kayden Muller had six kills and three digs, Brielle Volker had 13 kills and 18 digs, Kenedee Frayne had 34 assists, 13 digs and two ace serves and Kendal VanMinsel had 30 assists, 13 digs and two ace servers.
NIACC's Hannah Brinkman had 12 kills, three blocks and two ace serves and Carissa Timmerman had nine assists, 32 digs and two ace serves.
NIACC (6-3) returns to action Wednesday at home against Western Iowa Tech in its home opener. Match time is slated for 7 p.m.
"We get a couple of days to rest our bodies before another conference match next week," Brandt said.
