FORT DODGE - The NIACC volleyball team upset No. 14 Neosho County CC 3-2 on Friday at the Iowa Central Tournament.
NIACC won 13-25, 25-23, 20-25, 25-19, 16-14 in its opening match on Friday.
In its second match Friday, the Trojans fell to No. 5 Kansas City (Kan.) CC, 3-0. KCKCC won 25-7, 25-10, 25-22.
"We are super proud of the team for bouncing back after a tough week," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "Showing up on a mission is the best kind of feeling.
"(Saturday) will be another challenging day."
On Friday, the Trojans were led by sophomore Hannah Brinkman with 26 kills, three blocks, two digs and one ace serve. NIACC freshman Jocelynn Coleman had 19 kills four digs and two blocks.
NIACC sophomore Megan Tobin had 17 kills and two blocks, sophomore Kenedee Frayne had 36 assists and 10 digs and freshman Kendal VanMinsel had 19 assists, 15 digs and one ace serve.
NIACC freshman Bailey Dagestad had six kills, three digs and two blocks, sophomore Kinsey Anderson had 11 digs, freshman Brielle Volker had 10 kills and 17 digs and sophomore Emma Miller had six kills, 10 digs and two ace serves.
The Trojans' Alva Fraenkel had 34 digs, seven assists and two ace serves and freshman Carissa Timmerman had 12 digs.
NIACC (13-14 overall) returns to action Saturday at the Iowa Central Tournament. The Trojans face Allen County CC (12:30 p.m.) and Metropolitan CC (2:15 p.m.)
