Trojans fall to No. 9 Tritons
MASON CITY - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 9 Iowa Central Wednesday night in an ICCAC contest in the NIACC gym.
Iowa Central (14-6 overall, 6-0 in the ICCAC) won 25-21, 25-21, 25-16.
"We would have loved a different outcome," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said, "but we can't be sad about our performance.
"We played the best we have all season with great energy and intensity while understanding how to implement our game plan."
NIACC was led by sophomore Megan Tobin with 13 kills, four digs and two blocks. The Trojans' Kenedee Frayne had 22 assists, five digs and one ace serve.
NIACC's Jocelynn Coleman had nine kills and two blocks, Brielle Volker had eight kills, nine digs and one ace serve and Kinsey Anderson had 11 digs and one ace serve.
The Trojans' Bailey Dagestad had three blocks, two kills and two diga, Kylee Reuter had three kills, Kendal VanMinsel had 11 assists, six digs and two ace serves, Hannah Brinkman had three kills and one block and Carissa Timmerman had 12 digs and three assists.
NIACC (9-10, 1-4) returns to action Tuesday at home against Marshalltown CC in an ICCAC contest. Match time in the NIACC gym is slated for 7 p.m.
