ROCKFORD, Ill. - The NIACC volleyball team picked up two wins Saturday at the OWT All-In Tournament to start the season 4-0.
The Trojans are off to a 4-0 start for the first time since the 2019 season.
NIACC topped Lake Region State College 3-2 in its first match Saturday. The Trojans then closed the weekend with a 3-0 win over North Central Michigan.
NIACC topped Lake Region State College 17-25, 25-14, 21-25, 25-21, 15-8. The Trojans stopped North Central Michigan 25-21, 25-17, 25-23.
"What a fun start to the season," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "The team has been working hard on out-of-system play and it paid off.
"The buy in from everyone was evident throughout the weekend. We have plenty of things to work on, but for now, we will enjoy a day of rest and get back to work on Monday."
NIACC freshman Jocelynn Coleman had 26 kills and six blocks. Sophomore Megan Tobin had 22 kills and four blocks.
NIACC sophomore Kenedee Frayne had 43 assists, 15 digs and one ace serve. Kendal VanMinsel had 30 assists, six digs and three ace serves and Hannah Brinkman had 13 kills, five blocks and four ace serves.
Also for NIACC, Bailey Dagestad had seven kills, Brielle Volker had 17 kills, 17 digs and three ace serves, Emma Miller had 32 digs, eight kills and two ace serves and Carissa Timmerman had eight assists, 20 digs and four ace serves.
NIACC opens ICCAC play Wednesday at Hawkeye CC. Match time in Waterloo is slated for 6 p.m. in Waterloo.
