FORT DODGE - The NIACC volleyball team split a pair of matches Friday at the Iowa Central Invitational.
NIACC (7-5 overall) topped RCTC 3-2 in its first match and then dropped a 3-0 decision to Highland CC (Kan.).
Against RCTC, NIACC won 25-19, 22-25, 22-25, 25-22, 15-10. Highland CC (Kan.) topped the Trojans 25-13, 25-17, 25-20.
"We are really excited to see the energy our team brought (Friday)," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "We are working on a new defense and have a few injuries, but they did a great job adapting to the situations."
Sophomore Megan Tobin led the Trojans with 19 kills, 10 blocks and seven digs. Sophomore Hannah Brinkman had 17 kills, nine digs and eight blocks and freshman Jocelynn Coleman had 15 kills, nine digs and three blocks.
NIACC's Kenedee Frayne had 39 assists and 11 digs. Kendal VanMinsel had 25 assists and 17 digs.
Also for the Trojans, Kinsey Anderson had 22 digs and two ace serves, Bailey Dagestad had 11 blocks and five kills and Kayden Muller had six kills and six digs.
NIACC's Brielle Volker had 14 kills, 19 digs, four ace serves and two blocks and Carissa Timmerman had 39 digs, four ace serves and three assists.
On Saturday, the Trojans face Seminole State College at 11:15 a.m. and Madison College at 2:45 p.m.
"(Saturday) will be another challenging day of play," Brandt said.
