FORT DODGE - The NIACC volleyball team split a pair of matches Saturday at the Iowa Central Tournament.
NIACC topped Allen County CC 3-1 winning by the scores of 22-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-18. Metropolitan CC topped the Trojans 3-0 winning by the scores of 25-20, 25-10, 25-18.
"This is our last tournament of the season and no better time to be tested with tough competition," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "Part of the process is to always show up each day and for each other to improve.
"Players had to step up and do some unique things this weekend and they handled those situations well."
NIACC sophomores Hannah Brinkman and Megan Tobin both had 23 kills in Saturday's matches. Brinkman also had five digs, two blocks and one ace serve and Tobin had five blocks and three digs.
NIACC's Brielle Volker had 15 kills, 16 digs, two ace serves and one block. The Trojans' Jocelynn Coleman had 14 kills and two blocks.
NIACC's Bailey Dagestad had seven kills and two blocks. The Trojans' Kenedee Frayne had 27 assists, three ace serves and two digs and Kendal VanMinsel had 31 assists, six digs, four ace serves and one block.
The Trojans' Carissa Timmerman had 33 digs and six assists, Alva Fraenkel had 11 digs, Emma Miller had nine kills and 17 digs, Kayden Muller had three digs and Kinsey Anderson had three digs.
NIACC (14-15 overall) returns to action Wednesday at home against Northeast CC in an ICCAC contest on sophomore night. Match time in the NIACC gym is slated for 7 p.m.
