No. 11 Trojans fall to No. 2 Eagles
MASON CITY - The No. 11 NIACC women's basketball team dropped a 85-68 decision to No. 2 Kirkwood Wednesday night in an ICCAC contest in the NIACC gym.
Kirkwood (6-0 overall, 2-0 in the ICCAC) led 28-14 after the first quarter. NIACC trimmed the deficit to 36-33 at the half.
Kirkwood, which has won 34 straight ICCAC contests, was led by Aaliyah Riley with 17 points. Kennedy Blakely scored 15 points for the Eagles.
NIACC (8-1, 2-1) was led by sophoomore Reggi Spotts with 16 points. Peyton Meincke and Zaria Falls both scored 11 points for the Trojans.
Taylor Hemann was also in double figures tfor the Trojans with 10 points.
Spotts also had seven rebounds, three assists and one steal.
NIACC returns to action Saturday in an ICCAC contest at Iowa Western. Game time in Council Bluffs is slated for 1 p.m.
